ABOUT GODAWAN
In February, the first chickling of The Godawan also known as The Great Indian Bustard hatched. After 10 years, through an artificial, man made intervention. That’s how endangered this species is.
Weighing nearly 15 to 18 kilograms, this bird is mostly found in hot arid climates only like the Thar Desert and the Rann of Kutch. Because they happen to be on our borders, several have been shot from the other side due to the word “Indian” in their name.
Godawan craves no audience; its mystery is its majesty. Craftedin raw silk with hand set crystals, glass mirrors and cut dana, and poised on brass legs, this piece grants private access to acreature that shuns the spotlight, critically endangered, with under 200 left in the wild.
